I dissected Rand’s essay, “Design and the Play Instinct”, and presented in the book form. I enlarged his copy as well as the graphics included in the essay and presented in a way a reader can follow along easier. This allows the audience to have better visual context about what Paul Rand is explaining about his experience with design.

This pieces consists of a 40-page book filled with designs and text from Paul Rand’s 10-page essay about design. There displayed are four separate pages, one spread, and the front and back covers are from my version of a Design and the Play Instinct book. The front and back covers were inspired by the artist’s modernist style as well as the color choices.
